Locked On Raptors - Daily Podcast On The Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors are building their team around Scottie Barnes and Collin Murray-Boyles going forward, but what will that look like in actuality? In Episode 2124, Sean Woodley and Joe Wolfond dig deep into what the Raptors will need to do in order to optimize the roster around their two most important players going forward. Off the top, they discuss whether having two players with questionable three-point shots but truly unique qualities as defensive players opens up a wide range of team building paths, or if the front office will be restricted and forced to target very specific types of players over the next handful of years. Next, they examine whether or not Murray-Boyles should be viewed as a full-time centre, and the bar that would need to be cleared by a theoretical stretch big man to make it worth moving off of the Scottie-CMB 4-5 combo in the team's most important minutes going forward. Is it best if the Raptors target a greater number of cheap big men with varied skills to fill in the gaps when the Barnes-CMB duo isn't manning the five? Lastly, they chat about how the NBA Draft should be approached by the Raptors, and why the Barnes / Murray-Boyles duo gives them license to pick from a wide range of positions as opposed to be married to one type of player. Plus, a customary plea by Sean and Joe for more guard play.

With the NBA Draft just 20 days away, it's time for the first official Locked On Raptors Big Board! In Episode 2122, Sean Woodley goes solo to run through the 10 guys he has at the top of his wish list for the Raptors with the 19th pick, choosing from the guys who seem like they could realistically be available when the Raptors are on the clock -- meaning no Cameron Carr (sad), Morez Johnson or Dailyn Swain, though all those dudes would be a lot of fun. Off the top, Sean talks about why his dream draft night outcome remains a Labaron Philon Jr. slip down the board, with a Hannes Steinbach slide coming in as a close second. Next, Sean declares his believe in Bennett Stirtz as a guy who is simply to good at basketball to not find some level of success in the NBA, why he comes in slightly ahead of Stanford guard Ebuka Okorie on version one of the Big Board, and why Joshua Jefferson rounds out his personal Top-5, athleticism and age concerns be damned.
