We start the show with the San Jose Sharks’ acquisition of Vancouver forward Kiefer Sherwood. As David Pagnotta said yesterday on the show the price had dropped and it was imminent for a Sherwood trade, and not long after the show the NHL hits leader was shipped to San Jose for two seconds and undrafted defenceman Cole Clayton.

It was an eventful return for Matthew Tkachuk as the San Jose Sharks came into Sunrise and punched the Panthers in the mouth in a 4-1 defeat. Alex Nedeljkovic and Sergei Bobrovsky got into a rare goalie fight and Ned had the fists flying after a questionable hit on a Sharks defender.

Is 2000 the new 1000? Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, and Connor McDavid have all breezed past the 1k point plateau, but can these superstars hit 2k total points by the time they finish their careers?

There was no love from Auston Matthews towards his former teammate in the pregame interview, where Marner was very professional in his response to playing Matthews for the first time since his departure. Jack Eichel scored the OT winner in a 6-5 victory for the Golden Knights who are in Toronto next week.

Ilya Sorokin padded his Vezina resume with a 35 save shutout against the Edmonton Oilers. Hutts breaks down Sorokin's game and his first thoughts when Sorokin entered the league.

We start the show in Columbus and after their coaching change the Blue Jackets held off the Flames in a 5-3 win. Another struggling team, the Ottawa Senators, won last night as well. Both teams sit 6 points out of the last WC spot, but which group has the better chance to make the playoffs?

A lot of teams are drifting in the middle of the standings and will have some difficult decisions at the deadline surrounding pending UFAs on their respective teams. Some veteran forwards on the Islanders, Sabres, and Blue Jackets along with two veteran bruisers on the back-end for the Ducks could draw plenty of attention should any of these teams move players at the deadline.

Another team in that mushy middle stage is the Utah Mammoth. The Mammoth currently sit 7th in the Western Conference, but do they have enough offensive firepower to upset a Colorado or Vegas in the first round or should they sell some pending UFAs and look to add to their young core in a strong draft class?
