Bounce back Oilers, injury worries, and the Connor Hellebuyck situation

    2026-09-04 | 1h 3 mins.
It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers primed for a bounce back, expectations for Trent Frederic, another round of Ask the Idiots, line combinations, and more.
We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about which Oilers player the fellas are most excited about as bets to bounce back or have a strong 2026-27 season. Whether it's Trent Frederic having a better year in Edmonton or Jason Dickinson doing what he can to improve the power play, the fellas had plenty of options for players who could have a larger impact on the roster. We also discussed a player like Josh Samanski taking a step forward this season even though many Oilers fans are already bullish on what he might do.

Shifting gears, the guys turned the podcast to a discussion about Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl playing together on the first, and whether or not Stan Bowman's plan makes sense for the team as its currently built. Sticking with the lineup, the guys walked through the Oilers' injury woes and speculated on how those situations will play out, given how different each of these players are. The most notable injury, of course, would be to Matt Savoie, who will be expected to make a difference in the top six once he is back in the lineup.

Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, discussed some NHL rumours, worked through another round of Ask the Idiots questions, and finally, Hot and Cold Performers. While this week's episode followed the same general format, the Friday episode of ONR was all over the map with the lack of Oilers news. Even so, the boys had a lot of fun working through a few hockey stories before having the podcast wind up in the ditch from there.

We want to go watch the Oilers play in Germany

    2026-08-21 | 1h 7 mins.
It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers in Global Series, the Elks' game against Winnipeg, another round of Ask the Idiots, line combinations, and more.
We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about the Edmonton Oilers going back to Germany for the 2027 Global Series, and which country the boys would love travelling to to watch the team play hockey. Whether it's actually going to the games in Germany or any of the hockey-mad surrounding countries, there are plenty of spots overseas that the boys would love to go to. Will they be able to convince Jay that this trip needs to happen? We say yes.
Shifting gears, the guys turned the podcast to the latest rankings in The Athletic that had the Oilers listed as 31st overall in the league in terms of prospect depth. While some folks were upset about being dead last, the reality is that good teams with Stanley Cup aspirations tend to trade picks and prospects to better the team today. Up next, the guys broke down the clip of Josh Samanski from a German dating show, and how it was an unbelievable clip to watch, especially when you weren't expecting it.
Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, discussed the Edmonton Elks' game tonight at Commonwealth, worked through another round of Ask the Idiots questions, and finally, Hot and Cold Performers. While this week's episode followed the same general format, the Friday episode of ONR was all over the map with the lack of Oilers news. Even so, the boys had a lot of fun working through a few hockey stories before having the podcast wind up in the ditch from there.

Let's Talk About Daily Faceoff Edmonton

    2026-08-14 | 1h 16 mins.
It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed moving from Oilersnation to Daily Faceoff Edmonton, the Elks' game against Toronto, another round of Ask the Idiots, line combinations, and more.

We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about Oilersnation moving to Daily Faceoff Edmonton and offered a behind the scenes look at how the decision was made. Given that there was a lot of misinformation about what happened, the boys started the podcast with a discussion about the reason for the change and offered a promise that the content you've grown to love will not be changing. They also discussed the plan for re-naming the podcast and what the approach is for the show going forward.

Shifting gears, the guys turned the podcast to the Oilers and discussed the limited news that came out over the last week or so. Starting with the Oilers' goaltending depth, the guys wondered what the approach is for the Oilers' on their depth chart now that they have eight goalies signed on their pro ranks. They also spoke about Jeff Skinner signing a one-year contract in Switzerland, and how it's wild to see how quickly his long NHL career absolutely fell off a cliff.

Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, discussed the Edmonton Elks' hot run in the CFL, worked through another round of Ask the Idiots questions, and finally, Hot and Cold Performers.

While this week's episode followed the same general format, the Friday episode of ONR was all over the map with the lack of Oilers news. Even so, the boys had a lot of fun working through a few hockey stories before having the podcast wind up in the ditch from there.

    2026-08-07 | 41 mins.

How long can the Oilers run a three-goalie system?

    2026-07-31 | 1h 8 mins.
It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the non-Oilers the boys loved on teams they hated, the Elks' hot run, another round of Ask the Idiots, line combinations, and more.
We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about other NHL teams and specifically if there were any players on those teams that the boys loved even if they hated the team they played for. Whether it was Miikka Kiprusoff in Calgary or Corey Perry in Anaheim or Rick Nash on those terrible Columbus teams, there were a bunch of players the boys spoke about despite not necessarily liking their team. That also led to a discussion about players they currently despise for their success against the team.
Shifting gears, the guys continued on with a conversation about Prime Video taking over Wednesday night hockey and three playoff series for the next 12 years. Given that hockey fans will need to add another subscription to watch games this year, the boys discussed whether or not the NHL is doing anything properly when it comes to growing the game. They also discussed Connor McDavid's comments on the Oilers' three-goalie setup, and whether or not anyone believes that this can last for more than a month or two.
