We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about the NHL Draft and which takes we've had over the years that aged the best and worst. Whether it's thinking certain picks were going to be slam dunks, or believing that the Oilers ruined guys who were never going to make it, the boys discussed some of their favourite draft stories either good or bad. As you'll hear, expecting the boys on the podcast to correctly predict the draft or how these players will work out is basically impossible.
Shifting gears, the guys continued on with a recap of the latest in the Darnell Nurse rumours, and whether the long-time defenceman will still be with the Oilers through the weekend. While many Oilers fans thought the draft would be a reasonable time to move Nurse, the reality is that this move might take a while to get something done. The guys also discussed whether or not there is a chance that he doesn't get traded at all? They also discussed the Oilers' situation between the crease, and whether it's acceptable or not if the tandem is a Ingram/Jarry tandem again.
Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, discussed Canada's matchup against South Africa at the World Cup, worked through another round of Ask the Idiots questions, and finally, Hot and Cold Performers. While this week's episode followed the same general format, the Friday episode of ONR was all over the map. Even so, the boys had a lot of fun working through a bunch of Oilers stories despite not a whole lot happening.

We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about the Mike Babcock press conference, and what everyone thought about our first look at the team's newest coach. While everyone was curious how today was going to go, what wasn't overly surprising was that Mike Babcock didn't really answer those questions with any honesty. Whether it was his refusing to admit faults in Columbus or tap-dancing some of the tougher questions, there are still plenty of unanswered questions that will only be solved in time.
Shifting gears, the guys continued on with Babcock conversation by wondering what they think is most likely to come next now that the press conference is done. We got some free agents signed this week in Jason Dickinson and Connor Murphy, but with free agency kicking off in just over a week, we're about to find out if having Babcock behind the bench will impact the calibre of player the Oilers might attract. While it was great that Dickinson and Murphy believed in the team enough to extend, that doesn't necessarily mean the same will be true for players who
Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, the first edition of Reece's Game, which ended up being tennable, and a quick chat on what to expect from Canada's matchup against Switzerland at the World Cup. If Canada draws or wins, they will punch their ticket through to the round of 32. If they win, they will begin the round at home instead of having to travel abroad. Needless to say, the footy fever is alive and well at Nation HQ.

Given the Oilers are making this decision not caring about the fanbase's opinion, there's little doubt that the noise surrounding this decision will be incredibly loud. That led the boys to wonder what kinds of questions the media will be asking about the situation and what to expect going forward.
Shifting gears, the guys continued on with another round of Darnell Nurse trade talk. The boys had David Pagnotta on Oilersnation Everyday on Friday afternoon, and he pitched a couple of ideas on what a Nurse deal might look like. The options seem to be that the Oilers either hold some salary for a better return, or accept a lesser trade to clear out every dollar. Given the minutes he plays and his constant availability, it's worth having a discussion about whether or not moving on from the player will create a bigger hole than some people think. While there's no debate that the contract has become an issue, there is still a strong hockey player there that the team will likely be without when the next season rolls around.

His contract is obviously a massive part of the story when it comes to moving him, but that shouldn't suggest that Nurse carries zero value on the trade market.
