Deepen with Pastor Joby Martin

What does it really mean to surrender your life to Jesus, and is following Him worth the cost?

As we continue through Matthew 27, Pastor Joby Martin, Pastor Ryan Britt and Pastor Jonathan Vinke unpack the trial and crucifixion of Jesus, examining the choices of Pilate, Peter and Judas. Each faced a defining moment, reminding us that knowing about Jesus is not the same as surrendering to Him.

Through Peter's denial and restoration, we see that failure does not have to be final. Through Pilate's fear of losing control, we are challenged to consider what we are willing to surrender to follow Christ. And through the cross, we are reminded that Jesus took our place so that we could experience true freedom and eternal life.

The question remains: What will you do with the One called Christ?

Jesus wasn’t captured. He surrendered.

In this episode of the Deepen Podcast, Pastor Joby, Pastor Vinke and Pastor One unpack the arrest of Jesus and what it reveals about His strength, sovereignty and submission to the Father. They talk through the pain of betrayal, what it means to truly surrender to Jesus and how our lives can sometimes tell a different story than our words.

Through it all, we see a Savior who willingly stepped toward the cross, endured what we could not and opened the way for us to draw near to God.

In Matthew 26, we see two very different responses to Jesus.

Mary pours out what is most valuable to her in extravagant worship, while Judas chooses to betray Him. Her response reminds us that following Jesus means surrendering our agenda, our resources and ultimately our lives to Him.

In this episode of Deepen, we unpack what this passage teaches us about worship, generosity and lordship, and what it looks like to believe that Jesus is worthy of our all.
