"Hayden Christensen is REPORTEDLY in the final stages of signing a multi picture deal with Disney and Lucasfilm, and the piece everyone is focused on is a standalone Darth Vader movie." I've been seeing chatter about this online, if it's true, here's my thoughts on the situation.

Nothing here is confirmed. Lucasfilm, Disney, and Christensen have all stayed silent, and none of the major outlets have backed the claim yet. So this is a rumor, and I'm covering it as a rumor. But it's worth talking through, because of what it would mean if it turns out to be real.

The gap between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope is the most requested era in Star Wars. Vader hunting the surviving Jedi. His early years under Palpatine. The castle on Mustafar. Twenty years of stories that live action has barely touched and the tumultuous battle between Anakin and Vader are all stories to tell.

And Christensen isn't the guy who shows up for a nostalgia cameo anymore like they've been throwing him into. Between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka, he's become a fixture again, and he's said publicly there's a lot left to explore with the character after Episode III.

Hayden Christensen has been playing Anakin Skywalker for more than twenty years, and he just said that Dave Filoni understands the character better than he does.

Speaking to IMDb at D23, Hayden was asked whether he gives the writers feedback on Anakin. His answer was that he doesn't need to. He said Filoni understands this character in some ways even better than he does, and that when he reads the scripts he's just elated with what he gets to do and say. He added that Filoni is still very collaborative, that he'll share an idea if he has one, and if it works they'll do it, so nobody is too precious about things and they get to explore.

That comes right as Ahsoka Season 2 is on the way. The first trailer showed Hayden playing both the Force ghost version of Anakin and the Clone Wars era Jedi, which means he's getting to work through parts of the character in both worlds...no pun intended.

Do you think Dave knows Anakin better than Hayden who was taught by George Lucas during the prequel trilogy? Or does Dave Filoni understand Anakin better due to all of George's teachings during the Clone Wars?
