- This is it, the finale of the Sasquatch Unleashed audiobook, and it opens with something that isn't in the book at all. I wrote Sasquatch Unleashed as a lifelong skeptic who had never once seen the creature with his own eyes.
Then, in the summer of 2024, that changed. Over the span of two days I saw them three separate times in broad daylight, and on one of those occasions I stood no more than 10 feet away from one of these creatures. So the man reading you this final part is not the same man who wrote it, and for me the question at the heart of this whole book is settled in a way it never was on the page. From there, I take on the hardest questions this subject has to offer.
If Sasquatch is real, then where are the bodies, and why has no one ever stumbled across the bones? I walk you through the fossil record, the brutal science of what it actually takes to make a fossil, and why the remains of a large forest primate are exactly what we would expect to be missing. I get into how something that big could stay hidden at all, drawing on the primate behaviors and the lowland gorilla that eluded science for centuries, and I look at what human population growth and the loss of wild land mean for a creature trying to stay out of sight.
Then I put on the old hat I wore for 16 years in law enforcement, and I put Sasquatch on trial. I lay out the kinds of evidence a courtroom actually accepts, from physical and documentary to testimonial and digital, and I ask whether the case would hold up in front of a jury. After that, I wade out into the strangest, murkiest water in this whole world, the high strangeness, the UFO connections, the cloaking, the portals, the habituation stories like Janice Carter's, and the material I have always trusted the least, and I hold it up against the standard that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. I close the book by asking why we chase monsters in the first place, and then, at long last, I stop circling and give you my answer to the only question that ever really mattered.
Is Sasquatch real? Thank you for walking this entire Odyssey with me, from the first campfire story to the final verdict.

He discusses a recent UK eDNA case reportedly containing traces of Old World monkey and great ape DNA, explaining why the claim is unusual, why the raw sequencing data matters, and why extraordinary results must be verified by credible independent laboratories.
The conversation also takes a hard look at the Melba Ketchum DNA study, including the problems with its methods, interpretation, and publication. Dr. Disotell explains what laboratories actually mean when a sample is labeled “failed,” “unknown,” or “inconclusive,” and why none of those terms should be presented as proof of an unidentified creature.
They also explore the real promise and limitations of environmental DNA, the constant risks of contamination and weak chain of custody, and the collection standards required for a sample to survive scientific scrutiny.
The discussion closes with a broader examination of why many scientists avoid the Bigfoot subject, how sensational claims damage legitimate research, and why eyewitness testimony can be shaped by misidentification, expectation, and the fallibility of memory.

While driving home after a night of DJ work, Steve watched a heavily built, hair-covered creature—standing roughly six and a half feet tall—cross directly in front of his car before disappearing into the roadside brush.
The creature moved with remarkable speed and an unusually smooth, fluid gait. As it passed through the headlights, Steve noticed straw or dried grass tangled in its matted hair and caught a brief profile of a pale gray or white face with an almost glossy appearance. Moments later, he heard three strange sounds from the darkness that reminded him of a dog making a reverse-sneezing noise.Fearing ridicule, Steve kept the encounter private for 28 years.
He eventually began speaking about it after discovering similar reports from the surrounding area, along with stories of missing livestock and old mining tunnels beneath the local countryside.
Steve also discusses several other unexplained experiences from his life, including an apparent childhood premonition of his grandmother’s death, a cigar-shaped UFO he witnessed from an airplane in 1999, and disturbing activity inside a former home.
Although he remains open-minded about the paranormal, Steve believes the creature he encountered was a living, flesh-and-blood animal.Steve also shares details about Haunted Waves, the paranormal radio show he co-hosts with Claire on Humber Wave Radio.

Follow the show and turn on automatic downloads so you never miss an episode. - Fred from The Subarctic Alaska Sasquatch YouTube channel is back, and you can see more of Fred’s stuff by clicking the link below. In this episode, Fred shares two unsettling accounts of suspected “hairy man” encounters from the remote Alaskan wilderness.
The first involves Don and Tina, a couple hired to operate a gold mine along the Koyukuk River. During a stretch of heavy rain, large rocks began slamming into their loud mining equipment from somewhere beyond the tree line. Don briefly chased a dark figure into the woods, while Tina later witnessed an enormous humanoid silhouette moving nearby.
The situation escalated the following morning when the figure appeared dangerously close to their camp. Tina fired a shotgun into the air, and the couple retreated to their cabin before seeking help from a neighboring miner. He revealed that he had experienced similar harassment in the area. Despite the mine producing good gold, Don and Tina decided the money was not worth the risk and quit. Fortunately, the owner treated them fairly and paid them for their work.
Fred then rshares Daniel’s experience while trout fishing along the Tickchik River roughly twenty-five years ago. While waiting near a thick stand of willows, Daniel became overwhelmed by the feeling that something was watching him. After firing warning shots, he spotted a tall, black humanoid silhouette standing near the brush. Moments later, the figure crashed through the vegetation and disappeared.

Follow the show and turn on automatic downloads so you never miss an episode. - Part Three of the Sasquatch Unleashed is the one where I stop weighing other people's evidence and put my own convictions to the test. I take you deep into the British Columbia backcountry, seventeen miles down a logging road with no cell signal, on a week-long expedition with the controversial researcher Todd Standing.
This is the same man I had called a hoaxer, out loud, on my own show, and I went out there to find out whether I had him wrong the whole time. I walk you through the whole trip, from the ice baths in the glacial river and the tree breaks along the road, to the trackway I found pressed into the moss, the tree knocks that rolled in out of the dark, and the night the sky over our camp did something I still can't explain. I share the interviews that got me there too, my long conversations with survival expert Les Stroud and with Todd himself, and the wave of backlash I came home to, gorilla gloves and all. From the field, I turn the lens around onto us. I dig into the two forces that quietly wreck this whole subject, pareidolia and misidentification.
Why good, honest people see figures in the shadows that were never there and hear words and howls in nothing but random noise. Drawing on my sixteen years in law enforcement, I lay out how fragile eyewitness memory really is, how a leading question can plant a detail that was never seen, and what it actually takes to separate a genuine encounter from a trick of the mind. Then I close the part on the tool this entire field lives or dies on.
The scientific method. I trace it from Francis Bacon and Isaac Newton to Karl Popper and the idea of falsifiability, make the case for citizen scientists getting out in the woods the right way, and take on the single biggest enemy of honest research, confirmation bias. Because it would have been easy to come home from Radium a believer, and just as easy to come home a cynic.
The harder thing, the honest thing, is to sit in the middle with the evidence and refuse to lie to yourself in either direction.
