Legend alert! Today we have the luminous and divine Pam Grossman on the podcast to speak about her brand-new book, Magic Maker (available for purchase here!)! Pam is a dream and a joy, and it was such a gift to speak with her about everything from the unassuming magic of growing up in suburban NJ, to working with The Magician card as a muse for the writing process of Magic Maker, to the importance of art, creation, and craft in devastating times (and so much more!).  About Pam: Pam Grossman is a writer, curator, and teacher of magical practice and history. She is the host of The Witch Wave podcast (“the Terry Gross of Witches” - Vulture) and the author of Magic Maker: The Enchanted Path to Creativity, Waking the Witch: Reflections on Women, Magic, and Power, and What Is A Witch. She is also co-editor and co-author of the WITCHCRAFT volume of Taschen’s Library of Esoterica series. Her writing has appeared in numerous mediums, including The New York Times, The Atlantic, and Ms. Magazine. Her group art shows and projects, including the blockbuster exhibition Language of the Birds: Occult and Art, have been featured by such outlets as Artforum, The New Yorker, and Art in America. She is also co-organizer of the biennial Occult Humanities Conference at NYU. Pam is a frequent speaker at venues such as MoMA: The Museum of Modern Art, Columbia University, and IFC Center. She has appeared in numerous witchcraft documentaries including All of Them Witches (AMC) and WITCH (BBC), and she consults regularly for film, television, and brands in the esoterica space. Her workshops on spellcraft, creativity, and occult history have been attended by thousands of students around the world. • 303. MONTHLY MEDICINE: November is Radical Care in Challenging Times
How can we wisely, tenderly, and radically care for ourselves in vulnerable, challenging moments? How can we show up for others when they are in the same state? This is (just) one of the big questions that this very big and significant month will be posing to us. November really has the capacity to reorient us, in terms of our work in this world, our purpose, and call to service. It has the ability to really shift the ways in which we habitually respond to ourselves and others. May we show up in radical, tender care in all moments, joyous, challenging, and everything in between. Our Soul Tarot Reading for NovemberCard for the month ahead: King of PentaclesFeel/vibe of the month ahead: Queen of Pentacles RxHow can we best work with it?: Wheel of FortuneWhat can we devote our attention to?: The Lovers RxTranscript can be found on Spotify!LINKS:Preorder (or learn more about) my upcoming book and Tarot deck here!NYC! • 302. MONTHLY MEDICINE: October is Create
The water is flowing, the metaphorical arrow is flying through the air -- finally, with the month of October comes the movement, clarity, and expansion we've been waiting for. The theme of the month ahead is Create, and if we're willing to work with it, we can make extraordinary moves in our lives. The big work we will be doing this month isn't actually in the act of creating itself, but the resistance and inner protection that lies between us and this proverbial river, or arrow. The key for us will be to hold the aspects of us that have misgivings and doubts about this process, while taking those longed for leaps into creation and movement at the same time. Our Soul Tarot Reading for OctoberCard for the month ahead: Knight of Swords, King of Wands, Wheel of FortuneFeel/vibe of the month ahead: Four of CupsHow can we best work with it?: Ace of Pentacles and The FoolTranscript can be found on Spotify!LINKS:Want Part Two of the Monthly Medicine?
