One brand. Three watches. No budget. What could possibly go wrong?

This week, Alex and Jordan go head-to-head in the Three Watch Challenge, each choosing one brand and building their ultimate three-watch collection.

Alex goes with Zenith, while Jordan takes Glashütte Original — and with no budget to keep things remotely sensible, things escalate quickly. Divers, chronographs, tourbillons and some seriously ridiculous watches make the cut.

Rich is back with another round of Nitpicks, we talk about the upcoming Toronto Timepiece Show, and take a look at a surprising new Rolex that definitely got our attention.

But the big question is: Who built the better three-watch collection — Alex or Jordan?

The Toronto Timepiece Show is going BIG — and Jason Hutton is back to tell us what’s in store for this year’s show.

With 90+ exhibitors expected in Toronto, Jason gives us a look at how much the show has grown, the new Artisanal Lounge, some of the incredible brands and independent watchmakers attending, and even a tease about a new Grönefeld release that will be shown publicly at the show.

We also talk about the success of the first Montreal Timepiece Show, the growth of the Canadian watch community, what it actually takes behind the scenes to put these shows together, and Jason’s vision for Timepiece World Journal.

Alex, Jordan & Smartwatch Dick

This week we're joined by Jonny from Walker & Crown, one of the newest British microbrands on the scene — and one that definitely isn't interested in playing it safe.

Walker & Crown's story started with a lost watch belonging to Jonny's grandfather and eventually turned into something much bigger: Jonny and his wife Colette putting their own money behind a watch brand they genuinely believe in.

We get into where the brand came from, why they chose to self-fund instead of going the Kickstarter route, the risks of launching a new microbrand, and the thinking behind their first collection, the Revival Series.

And these aren't just four different dial colours.
Laser Drift. The Clerk. Memphis Beat. Electric Lagoon.
Each has its own personality and its own connection to the music, design and culture of the 1980s. Even the packaging gets in on it — including an actual cassette with an NFC-linked playlist created around each watch.

Jordan has been wearing two of the watches, so we also get into what they're actually like on wrist, the 37x37mm square case, the finishing, bracelets, Miyota movements and some of the little details that surprised us.

£379. Self-funded. Small production runs. No waiting a year for a Kickstarter watch to hopefully show up.

This was a fun one. Jonny fit right in, we went completely off the rails a few times, and by the end of it you'll probably understand why we're pretty damn excited to see where Walker & Crown goes from here.

For the first time, we’re recording together in person! After 18 holes of golf, dinner and a couple of drinks, we sat down on the deck and did what we do best — talked watches.

The big one this week is the Makoto Boken. Ryan from Makoto gave us a pretty bold challenge: put his Grade 5 titanium adventure watch up against our Christopher Ward C63 Sealander Extreme GMTs and tell him what we really think.

After both spending some serious wrist time with the Boken, we talk about the incredible wearability, ridiculous lume, finishing, straps, what we’d change, and whether a watch at roughly half the price can actually hang with the Christopher Ward.
