True Crime S3 Episode 12: Highway of Tears Cases
The Highway of Tears is a 719 kilometer section of Highway 16 in British Columbia, Canada. It stretches between the cities of Prince Rupert and Prince George. It has earned this name, because it has been the location of violent crimes against many women and girls. Specifically, there is a disproportionately high number of Indigenous women and girls. Documented concerns about the frequency of missing people along the highway began in the 1970s and have continued to today. For some context, 720 kilometers is about 466 miles which is further than the driving distance between St. Louis, MO and Omaha, Nebraska. It’s about the flying distance between St. Louis and Minneapolis, Minnesota. It’s further than Memphis, Tennessee to Helen, Georgia.Follow us on Instagram, TikTok, and Threads: @housewifediditpod Check out our website and merch at https://the-housewife-did-it.square.siteSources:Highway of Tears by Jessica McDiarmidHighway of Tears (2015 Documentary)WikipediaFinding Dawn (2006)The Canadian Encyclopedia - Missing and Murdered Indigenoushttps://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/robert-pickton-case The Hue and CryVancouver Sun
