Damon Johnson joined Jeremy White to discuss his upcoming album "Magnolia Medicine" with Brother Cane, releasing April 17th, and the new single "Nothing to Lose" which dropped on Valentine's Day. Damon shared his excitement about the album's production with Marty Fredrickson and the band's plans for summer tour dates. They also discussed Damon's ongoing role with Lynyrd Skynyrd, how fan's reacted to the lineup changes and summer tour with Foreigner, his days touring with Van Halen in the 90's and much more! On National Guitar Day, Jeremy and Sean Kelly discussed the upcoming release of Sean's book, "Battleaxes: A Hard Rockin' History of Pointy Guitars," which is scheduled for August 26th, which explores the evolution and cultural impact of pointy guitars in rock music. Sean shared his personal guitar journey, inspired by Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It," and discussed his experiences playing with various artists including Nelly Furtado and Lee Aaron. They explored the competitive landscape between guitar manufacturers during the 1980s, the influence of branding on guitar choice, and the technical innovations that shaped guitar design. The conversation also touched on the current state of guitar playing among younger musicians and the enduring appeal of 1980s rock recordings, particularly when experienced through vinyl and FM radio.
