The Idaho Murders | The Case Against Bryan Kohberger

Something changed for Bryan Kohberger between the day he pleaded guilty and the day he filed to take it back.
He was sentenced to four consecutive life terms after telling a judge he was pleading guilty because he was guilty. About a year later he filed a handwritten petition for post-conviction relief in Ada County District Court, representing himself, saying the confession was false and his innocence is the truth.
Tony Brueski and retired FBI behavioral analyst Robin Dreeke work through what he is claiming and what the shape of the claim gives away.
The petition alleges ineffective assistance of counsel and says his defense team never disclosed or reviewed evidence that would have helped him. It says he was given a grossly misleading picture of what a life sentence and death row in Idaho would look like. It blames threats, false promises and wrong information for the plea.

A year ago, the family of Kaylee Goncalves said Bryan Kohberger was too afraid to die but not afraid to kill. He had just traded a capital murder trial for a deal that took the death penalty off the table and locked in four consecutive life terms.
Now he says the state is welcome to come after the death penalty again.

We explain why the surviving roommates' hours-long delay before calling 911 doesn't prove what people think it does, what their private writings actually reveal, the theory that they were spared because they were involved, and why a judge dismissed the internet's alternate suspects as rank speculation. 
Then there's the DNA. Kohberger's genetic material on the knife sheath left in a victim's bed wasn't a faint trace, the lab says, it was hundreds of times more material than a typical case produces, a detail that undercuts the planting theory more than anything else in this case.
