  • Celebrating 50 Years of “Jaws” With the Hit Play “The Shark Is Broken”
Duunnn dunnn… duuuunnnn duun… It’s hard to believe it’s been 50 years since “Jaws” arrived with a splash, bringing acclaim to young director Steven Spielberg, forever changing the public perception of sharks, and introducing the concept of the summer blockbuster for the very first time.  So what better way to celebrate than with a trip to the Falcon Theatre in Newport, Kentucky, to see the regional premiere of “The Shark Is Broken,” a witty and entertaining comedy about the making of “Jaws.” This past Thursday Candy and Ashley did just that, attending the final dress rehearsal for this wildly popular show that is fresh off Broadway. They also had the privilege of speaking with the 3 actors who bring “Jaws” leads to life: Keith Cassidy (Robert Shaw), Ted Weil (Roy Scheider) and Brady Dunn  (Richard Dreyfuss), as well as David Derringer (Director) and Katie Ruwe (Stage Manager).  Wish you could have been there? No worries– you’ll feel like you WERE when you hear the fascinating interviews and other behind-the-scenes tidbits shared in this episode! Find (and subscribe to!) the show on your favorite podcast app or the Scandal Water Podcast Youtube channel. And after you listen, head on over to Newport to catch the show between now and May 17, on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Tickets available by visiting www.falcontheatre.net  Thank you to David Derringer, Katie Ruwe, Keith Cassidy, Brady Dunn, and Ted Weil for their top-of-the-episode shout-out! Were you Team Coco or Team Jay?  We’re referring to the highly publicized battle that occurred between Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien over “The Tonight Show” back in 2010. And if you remember that, you may also recall a similar rivalry that took place years before– this time between Jay Leno and Dave Letterman.  But these late night talk show conflicts are just part of what we cover in Part 2 of this lively episode on late night talk shows. Here’s a glimpse at a few other events that come up… What secret deal helped Jay Leno land the spot as Johnny Carson’s replacement? How did Conan O’Brien strike back at NBC when he felt he’d been mistreated by the network? What heartfelt Craig Ferguson monologue from 2007 is now legendary?
