    Meat is becoming a major battleground in the culture wars, but how and why is this happening? Investigative reporter Clare Carlile explains how far-right populists, conspiracy theorists, government departments, lobbyists and PR firms are all contributing to the push to get us to eat more meat.Clare Carlile is a journalist focussing on environmental and social issues. She is currently an investigative reporter for the award-winning environmental news outlet DeSmog.Clare earned a BA in English Literature and Languages from Oxford University in 2017. She went on to work as a news and features editor - and eventually co-editor - at The Ethical Consumer Magazine, where she specialised in migrant workers’ rights.Since 2022, she has worked as a researcher at Desmog, an international journalism platform that investigates misinformation and monitors individuals and organisations opposing climate science and environmental policy.
