S3E3: Ready to Be Seen?

    2026-04-20 | 25 mins.
Who gets to be seen—and who holds back?
From speakeasy stages to classroom “performances,” this episode dives into the courage it takes to show up.

What happens when you walk into a room… and suddenly realize you’re the only one who looks like you?

In this episode, Annie shares her experience attending a speakeasy-style storytelling event—only to find herself as the only person of colour in the room. That moment sparks a deeper conversation between Annie and Lilah: What exactly is a “speakeasy” event today? Why do people sign up to stand on stage and tell their stories? And why does that idea feel so uncomfortable… even for us?

We explore the psychology behind “putting yourself out there,” and unpack the cultural differences between Asian and North American perspectives on visibility, confidence, and self-expression. As instructors—people who perform in front of others every day—we reflect on the surprising truth: even we hesitate to take the stage.

So… what does it really mean to be seen?

S3E2: Let’s Talk About Traffic

    2026-04-13 | 33 mins.
What does it take to cross the street in Southeast Asia? According to Lilah… nerves of steel and a solid survival strategy 😄
In this episode, Lilah shares eye-opening (and slightly terrifying) stories from her travels in Vietnam and Thailand, where traffic rules feel more like… suggestions. She breaks down how drivers and pedestrians actually negotiate the road—and the unexpected “skills” she developed just to make it across the street safely.
Then, Lilah and Annie bring it back home to Vancouver, where traffic comes with its own quirks: questionable parking jobs, infamous potholes, and the everyday challenges of getting from point A to point B.
From cultural comparisons to chaotic crosswalks, this episode is packed with relatable moments, laughs, and a fresh perspective on something we all deal with—traffic.
    As always… hilarity ensued.
